About these designs
The designs are grouped by kind. Simple ones start from one circle or one line, for a first try or a child. Small ones fit a narrow doorstep, a balcony or the corner by the puja. Flower designs are drawn petal by petal round one centre, and kolams on a grid of dots, with the dot count given. Borders are one unit you repeat along a step or a threshold, and the diya designs are for Diwali night itself.
Every design has pictures for every step and a free download to print or trace, so you can copy it even if you have never drawn a rangoli before. Draw the outline first, then fill in the colours, with coloured powder, rice flour or real petals.
