जय जय श्री काली के लाला।
जयति जयति काशी-कुतवाला॥

Jai jai Shri Kali ke lala,
Jayati jayati Kashi-kutvala.

Glory, glory to the dear son of Shri Kali; victory, victory to the kotwal, the guardian, of Kashi.

श्री काली के प्यारे पुत्र की जय हो, जय हो; काशी के कोतवाल, उसके रक्षक, की जय हो, जय हो।

जयति बटुक-भैरव भय हारी।
जयति काल-भैरव बलकारी॥

Jayati Batuk-Bhairav bhay hari,
Jayati Kaal-Bhairav balkari.

Victory to Batuk Bhairav, the child form, who takes fear away; victory to Kaal Bhairav, who gives strength.

भय दूर करने वाले बाल रूप बटुक भैरव की जय हो; बल देने वाले काल भैरव की जय हो।

जयति नाथ-भैरव विख्याता।
जयति सर्व-भैरव सुखदाता॥

Jayati Nath-Bhairav vikhyata,
Jayati Sarva-Bhairav sukhdata.

Victory to the famous Nath Bhairav; victory to Sarva Bhairav, Bhairav in all things, who gives happiness.

प्रसिद्ध नाथ भैरव की जय हो; सबमें बसे, सुख देने वाले सर्व भैरव की जय हो।

भैरव रूप कियो शिव धारण।
भव के भार उतारण कारण॥

Bhairav rup kiyo Shiv dharan,
Bhav ke bhar utaran karan.

Shiva took on the form of Bhairav to lift the burden from the world.

संसार का बोझ उतारने के लिए शिव ने भैरव का रूप धारण किया।

भैरव रव सुनि ह्वै भय दूरी।
सब विधि होय कामना पूरी॥

Bhairav rav suni hvai bhay doori,
Sab vidhi hoy kamna poori.

At the sound of Bhairav’s roar, fear runs far away, and every wish is fulfilled in every way.

भैरव की गर्जना सुनकर डर दूर भाग जाता है, और हर इच्छा हर तरह से पूरी होती है।

शेष महेश आदि गुण गायो।
काशी-कोतवाल कहलायो॥

Shesh Mahesh aadi gun gayo,
Kashi-Kotval kahlayo.

Shesha, Mahesha and the other gods sang your praises, and you came to be called the kotwal of Kashi.

शेषनाग, महेश और दूसरे देवताओं ने आपके गुण गाए, और आप काशी के कोतवाल कहलाए।

जटा जूट शिर चंद्र विराजत।
बाला मुकुट बिजायठ साजत॥

Jata joot shir chandra virajat,
Bala mukut bijayath sajat.

The moon shines in the matted locks piled on your head; earrings, a crown and armlets adorn you.

आपके सिर की जटाओं में चंद्रमा शोभा पाता है; कानों में बाले, सिर पर मुकुट और बाँहों में बाजूबंद सजे हैं।

कटि करधनी घूँघरू बाजत।
दर्शन करत सकल भय भाजत॥

Kati kardhani ghunghroo bajat,
Darshan karat sakal bhay bhajat.

The little bells on the belt round your waist ring out; at the sight of you every fear flees.

आपकी कमर की करधनी के घुँघरू बजते हैं; आपके दर्शन करते ही सारे डर भाग जाते हैं।

जीवन दान दास को दीन्ह्यो।
कीन्ह्यो कृपा नाथ तब चीन्ह्यो॥

Jivan dan das ko dinhyo,
Kinhyo kripa nath tab chinhyo.

You gave the gift of life to your servant; Lord, you showed your grace, and then I knew you.

आपने अपने सेवक को जीवन का दान दिया; हे नाथ, आपने कृपा की, तब मैंने आपको पहचाना।

वसि रसना बनि सारद-काली।
दीन्ह्यो वर राख्यो मम लाली॥

Vasi rasna bani Sarad-Kali,
Dinhyo var rakhyo mam lali.

Living on my tongue as Sharada and as Kali, you gave me a boon and kept my honour.

आपने शारदा और काली बनकर मेरी जीभ पर वास किया, वरदान दिया और मेरी लाज रखी।

धन्य धन्य भैरव भय भंजन।
जय मनरंजन खल दल भंजन॥

Dhanya dhanya Bhairav bhay bhanjan,
Jai manranjan khal dal bhanjan.

Blessed, blessed is Bhairav, breaker of fear; glory to you who delight the heart and scatter the armies of the wicked.

डर को तोड़ने वाले भैरव धन्य हैं, धन्य हैं; मन को आनंद देने वाले और दुष्टों के दल को नष्ट करने वाले, आपकी जय हो।

कर त्रिशूल डमरू शुचि कोड़ा।
कृपा कटाक्ष सुयश नहिं थोडा॥

Kar trishul damru shuchi koda,
Kripa kataksh suyash nahin thoda.

In your hands are the trident, the damru drum and a sacred whip; your kind glance and your good name are great indeed.

आपके हाथों में त्रिशूल, डमरू और पवित्र कोड़ा है; आपकी कृपा भरी दृष्टि और आपका यश ज़रा भी कम नहीं।

जो भैरव निर्भय गुण गावत।
अष्टसिद्धि नव निधि फल पावत॥

Jo Bhairav nirbhay gun gavat,
Ashtasiddhi nav nidhi phal pavat.

Whoever sings the praises of Bhairav without fear gains the eight powers and the nine treasures as the fruit.

जो निडर होकर भैरव के गुण गाता है, उसे आठों सिद्धियाँ और नौ निधियाँ फल के रूप में मिलती हैं।

रूप विशाल कठिन दुख मोचन।
क्रोध कराल लाल दुहुँ लोचन॥

Rup vishal kathin dukh mochan,
Krodh karal lal duhun lochan.

Your form is vast and frees us from hard sorrows; your two red eyes blaze with fearsome anger.

आपका रूप विशाल है और कठिन दुखों से छुड़ाता है; आपकी दोनों लाल आँखों में भयंकर क्रोध है।

अगणित भूत प्रेत संग डोलत।
बम बम बम शिव बम बम बोलत॥

Aganit bhoot pret sang dolat,
Bam bam bam Shiv bam bam bolat.

Countless spirits and ghosts go about with you, calling out “Bam bam bam, Shiva, bam bam”.

अनगिनत भूत-प्रेत आपके साथ घूमते हैं और “बम बम बम, शिव, बम बम” बोलते हैं।

रुद्रकाय काली के लाला।
महा कालहू के हो काला॥

Rudrakay Kali ke lala,
Maha Kalahu ke ho kala.

Son of Kali, with the body of Rudra, you are death even to Mahakala, great Time itself.

हे काली के पुत्र, रुद्र के शरीर वाले, आप महाकाल के भी काल हैं।

बटुक नाथ हो काल गँभीरा।
श्वेत रक्त अरु श्याम शरीरा॥

Batuk Nath ho Kaal gambhira,
Shvet rakt aru shyam sharira.

You are Batuk Nath, the child, and you are deep and solemn Time; your body is white, red and dark.

आप बालक बटुकनाथ भी हैं और गहरे, गंभीर काल भी; आपका शरीर सफ़ेद, लाल और साँवला है।

करत नीनहूँ रूप प्रकाशा।
भरत सुभक्तन कहँ शुभ आशा॥

Karat ninhun rup prakasha,
Bharat subhaktan kahan shubh aasha.

You make all three of these forms shine, and you fill your good devotees with bright hope.

आप तीनों रूपों को प्रकट करते हैं, और अपने अच्छे भक्तों के मन में शुभ आशा भरते हैं।

रत्न जड़ित कंचन सिंहासन।
व्याघ्र चर्म शुचि नर्म सुआनन॥

Ratna jadit kanchan sinhasan,
Vyaghra charm shuchi narm suanan.

You sit on a golden throne set with jewels, on a clean, soft tiger skin, your face beautiful.

आप रत्नों से जड़े सोने के सिंहासन पर, पवित्र और कोमल बाघ की खाल पर विराजते हैं, और आपका मुख सुंदर है।

तुमहि जाइ काशिहिं जन ध्यावहिं।
विश्वनाथ कहँ दर्शन पावहिं॥

Tumahi jai Kashihin jan dhyavahin,
Vishvanath kahan darshan pavahin.

People go to Kashi and meditate on you, and so they receive the darshan of Vishvanath.

लोग काशी जाकर आपका ध्यान करते हैं, और तभी उन्हें विश्वनाथ के दर्शन मिलते हैं।

जय प्रभु संहारक सुनन्द जय।
जय उन्नत हर उमा नन्द जय॥

Jai Prabhu Sanharak Sunand jai,
Jai Unnat Har Uma Nand jai.

Glory to you, Lord, as Sanharak, the destroyer, and as Sunand; glory to you as Unnat, the exalted, as Har, and as the joy of Uma.

हे प्रभु, संहारक और सुनंद रूप में आपकी जय हो; उन्नत, हर और उमा को आनंद देने वाले रूप में आपकी जय हो।

भीम त्रिलोचन स्वान साथ जय।
वैजनाथ श्री जगतनाथ जय॥

Bhim Trilochan svan sath jai,
Vaijnath Shri Jagatnath jai.

Glory to the mighty one with three eyes and the dog at his side; glory to Vaijnath and to Shri Jagatnath, lord of the world.

कुत्ते को साथ रखने वाले, तीन आँखों वाले बलवान भीम त्रिलोचन की जय हो; वैजनाथ और जगत के स्वामी श्री जगतनाथ की जय हो।

महा भीम भीषण शरीर जय।
रुद्र त्रयम्बक धीर वीर जय॥

Maha Bhim bhishan sharir jai,
Rudra Trayambak dhir vir jai.

Glory to the great and mighty one whose body strikes terror; glory to Rudra, the three-eyed, steady and brave.

महा बलवान, भयानक शरीर वाले महाभीम की जय हो; धीर और वीर, तीन आँखों वाले रुद्र की जय हो।

अश्वनाथ जय प्रेतनाथ जय।
स्वानारुढ़ सयचंद्र नाथ जय॥

Ashvanath jai Pretnath jai,
Svanarudh Sayachandra Nath jai.

Glory to Ashvanath, lord of horses, and to Pretnath, lord of spirits; glory to the one who rides the dog, and to Sayachandra Nath.

घोड़ों के स्वामी अश्वनाथ की जय, प्रेतों के स्वामी प्रेतनाथ की जय; कुत्ते पर सवार होने वाले और सयचंद्र नाथ की जय हो।

निमिष दिगंबर चक्रनाथ जय।
गहत अनाथन नाथ हाथ जय॥

Nimish Digambar Chakranath jai,
Gahat anathan nath hath jai.

Glory to Nimish, to Digambar, clothed in the sky, and to Chakranath; glory to the lord who takes the hand of those who have no one.

निमिष, आकाश को ही वस्त्र बनाने वाले दिगंबर और चक्रनाथ की जय हो; अनाथों का हाथ थामने वाले नाथ की जय हो।

त्रेशलेश भूतेश चंद्र जय।
क्रोध वत्स अमरेश नन्द जय॥

Treshlesh Bhutesh Chandra jai,
Krodh Vats Amaresh Nand jai.

Glory to Treshlesh, to Bhutesh, lord of all beings, and to Chandra; glory to Krodh, to Vats, to Amaresh and to Nand.

त्रेशलेश, सब प्राणियों के स्वामी भूतेश और चंद्र की जय हो; क्रोध, वत्स, अमरेश और नंद की जय हो।

श्री वामन नकुलेश चण्ड जय।
कृत्याऊ कीरति प्रचण्ड जय॥

Shri Vaman Nakulesh Chand jai,
Krityau Kirti Prachand jai.

Glory to Shri Vaman, to Nakulesh and to Chanda; glory to Krityau, to Kirti and to Prachanda, the fierce.

श्री वामन, नकुलेश और चंड की जय हो; कृत्याऊ, कीर्ति और प्रचंड की जय हो।

रुद्र बटुक क्रोधेश कालधर।
चक्र तुण्ड दश पाणिव्याल धर॥

Rudra Batuk Krodhesh Kaldhar,
Chakra Tund Dash Panivyal dhar.

You are Rudra and Batuk, Krodhesh, lord of anger, and Kaldhar, who holds time; you are Chakra Tund, with ten hands and serpents for ornaments.

आप रुद्र और बटुक हैं, क्रोध के स्वामी क्रोधेश और काल को धारण करने वाले कालधर हैं; आप चक्रतुंड हैं, दस हाथों वाले, जो साँपों को आभूषण बनाते हैं।

करि मद पान शम्भु गुणगावत।
चौंसठ योगिन संग नचावत॥

Kari mad paan Shambhu gun gavat,
Chaunsath yogin sang nachavat.

Having drunk deep of ecstasy, you sing the praises of Shambhu and dance with the sixty-four yoginis.

मद का पान करके आप शंभु के गुण गाते हैं, और चौंसठ योगिनियों के साथ नाचते हैं।

करत कृपा जन पर बहु ढंगा।
काशी कोतवाल अड़बंगा॥

Karat kripa jan par bahu dhanga,
Kashi Kotval adbanga.

You show your grace to people in many ways, carefree and unlike any other, kotwal of Kashi.

आप लोगों पर कई तरह से कृपा करते हैं, हे काशी के अलबेले कोतवाल।

देयँ काल भैरव जब सोटा।
नसै पाप मोटा से मोटा॥

Deyan Kaal Bhairav jab sota,
Nasai paap mota se mota.

When Kaal Bhairav strikes with his staff, even the heaviest sin is destroyed.

जब काल भैरव अपना डंडा चलाते हैं, तो बड़े से बड़ा पाप भी नष्ट हो जाता है।

जनकर निर्मल होय शरीरा।
मिटै सकल संकट भव पीरा॥

Jankar nirmal hoy sharira,
Mitai sakal sankat bhav pira.

The devotee’s body is made pure, and every trouble and the pain of worldly life are wiped away.

भक्त का शरीर निर्मल हो जाता है, और सारे संकट और संसार की पीड़ा मिट जाती है।

श्री भैरव भूतों के राजा।
बाधा हरत करत शुभ काजा॥

Shri Bhairav bhuton ke raja,
Badha harat karat shubh kaja.

Shri Bhairav is the king of the spirits; he takes obstacles away and brings good work to completion.

श्री भैरव भूतों के राजा हैं; वे बाधाएँ हरते हैं और शुभ काम पूरे करते हैं।

ऐलादी के दुःख निवारयो।
सदा कृपाकरि काज सम्हारयो॥

Ailadi ke dukh nivaryo,
Sada kripa kari kaj samharyo.

You took away the sorrows of Ailadi, your devotee, and in your grace you always set her affairs right.

आपने अपनी भक्त ऐलादी के दुख दूर किए, और सदा कृपा करके उसके काम सँवारे।

सुन्दर दास सहित अनुरागा।
श्री दुर्वासा निकट प्रयागा॥

Sundar Das sahit anuraga,
Shri Durvasa nikat Prayaga.

The poet Sundar Das, full of devotion, wrote this at the hermitage of the sage Durvasa, near Prayag.

भक्ति से भरे कवि सुंदरदास ने प्रयाग के पास ऋषि दुर्वासा के आश्रम में यह रचना की।

श्री भैरव जी की जय लेख्यो।
सकल कामना पूरण देख्यो॥

Shri Bhairav ji ki jai lekhyo,
Sakal kamna puran dekhyo.

He wrote of the glory of Shri Bhairav ji, and saw every one of his wishes fulfilled.

उन्होंने श्री भैरव जी की महिमा लिखी, और अपनी सारी इच्छाएँ पूरी होती देखीं।
