Sankat Mochan Hanuman Ashtak

बाल समय रवि भक्षि लियो तब, तीनहुँ लोक भयो अँधियारो।
ताहि सों त्रास भयो जग को, यह संकट काहु सों जात न टारो।
देवन आनि करी बिनती तब, छाँड़ि दियो रवि कष्ट निवारो।
को नहिं जानत है जग में कपि, संकटमोचन नाम तिहारो॥

Baal samay ravi bhakshi liyo tab, teenhun lok bhayo andhiyaro,
Tahi son traas bhayo jag ko, yah sankat kahu son jaat na taro,
Devan aani kari binati tab, chhandi diyo ravi kasht nivaro,
Ko nahin janat hai jag mein kapi, Sankatmochan naam tiharo.

As a child you swallowed the sun, and darkness fell over the three worlds. The whole world was afraid, and no one could lift this trouble. Then the gods came and begged you, and you let the sun go and ended their distress. O monkey hero, who in the world does not know your name, Sankat Mochan, the remover of troubles?

बचपन में आपने सूर्य को निगल लिया, तो तीनों लोकों में अँधेरा छा गया। सारा संसार डर गया, और यह संकट किसी से टल नहीं रहा था। तब देवताओं ने आकर आपसे विनती की, और आपने सूर्य को छोड़कर उनका कष्ट दूर किया। हे वानर वीर, संसार में कौन नहीं जानता कि आपका नाम संकटमोचन, यानी संकट दूर करने वाला, है?

बालि की त्रास कपीस बसै गिरि, जात महाप्रभु पंथ निहारो।
चौंकि महामुनि साप दियो तब, चाहिय कौन बिचार बिचारो।
कै द्विज रूप लिवाय महाप्रभु, सो तुम दास के सोक निवारो।
को नहिं जानत है जग में कपि, संकटमोचन नाम तिहारो॥

Bali ki traas Kapis basai giri, jaat mahaprabhu panth niharo,
Chaunki mahamuni saap diyo tab, chahiya kaun bichar bicharo,
Kai dvij roop livaay mahaprabhu, so tum daas ke sok nivaro,
Ko nahin janat hai jag mein kapi, Sankatmochan naam tiharo.

Afraid of Bali, Sugriva, king of the monkeys, lived on the mountain, where a great sage’s curse kept Bali away, and he watched the road. When he saw the great Lord coming he was startled, and wondered what he should do. Taking the form of a Brahmin, you brought the great Lord to him, and so ended the sorrow of your servant. Who in the world does not know you as Sankat Mochan?

बाली के डर से वानरों के राजा सुग्रीव पर्वत पर रहते थे, जहाँ एक महामुनि के शाप के कारण बाली नहीं आ सकता था, और वे रास्ता देखते रहते थे। जब उन्होंने महाप्रभु श्री राम को आते देखा, तो वे चौंक गए और सोचने लगे कि अब क्या करें। तब आप ब्राह्मण का रूप धरकर महाप्रभु को उनके पास ले आए, और इस तरह अपने दास का दुख दूर किया। संसार में कौन नहीं जानता कि आप संकटमोचन हैं?

अंगद के संग लेन गये सिय, खोज कपीस यह बैन उचारो।
जीवत ना बचिहौ हम सो जु, बिना सुधि लाए इहाँ पगु धारो।
हेरि थके तट सिंधु सबै तब, लाय सिया सुधि प्रान उबारो।
को नहिं जानत है जग में कपि, संकटमोचन नाम तिहारो॥

Angad ke sang len gaye Siya, khoj Kapis yah bain ucharo,
Jeevat na bachihau ham so ju, bina sudhi laye ihan pagu dharo,
Heri thake tat Sindhu sabai tab, laay Siya sudhi pran ubaro,
Ko nahin janat hai jag mein kapi, Sankatmochan naam tiharo.

You went with Angad to search for Sita, and Sugriva had given this order: “Whoever sets foot here again without news of her will not escape me alive.” They all searched the shore of the ocean until they were worn out; then you brought back news of Sita and saved their lives. Who in the world does not know you as Sankat Mochan?

आप अंगद के साथ सीता जी को खोजने गए थे, और वानरों के राजा सुग्रीव ने यह कहा था: “जो सीता जी की खबर लाए बिना यहाँ लौटेगा, वह मेरे हाथ से जीवित नहीं बचेगा।” सब वानर समुद्र के किनारे खोजते-खोजते थक गए; तब आपने सीता जी की खबर लाकर सबके प्राण बचाए। संसार में कौन नहीं जानता कि आप संकटमोचन हैं?

रावन त्रास दई सिय को सब, राक्षसि सों कहि सोक निवारो।
ताहि समय हनुमान महाप्रभु, जाय महा रजनीचर मारो।
चाहत सीय असोक सों आगि सु, दै प्रभु मुद्रिका सोक निवारो।
को नहिं जानत है जग में कपि, संकटमोचन नाम तिहारो॥

Ravan traas dai Siya ko sab, rakshasi son kahi sok nivaro,
Tahi samay Hanuman mahaprabhu, jaay maha rajnichar maro,
Chahat Siya asok son aagi su, dai prabhu mudrika sok nivaro,
Ko nahin janat hai jag mein kapi, Sankatmochan naam tiharo.

Ravana tormented Sita in every way, and in her despair she begged a demon woman to end her grief. At that time you, great Hanuman, went there and struck down mighty demons. Sita was asking the Ashoka tree for fire, to give up her life; you gave her the Lord’s ring and took away her sorrow. Who in the world does not know you as Sankat Mochan?

रावण ने सीता जी को हर तरह से डराया, तो दुखी होकर उन्होंने एक राक्षसी से अपना दुख मिटाने की विनती की। उसी समय, हे महाप्रभु हनुमान, आपने वहाँ जाकर बड़े-बड़े राक्षसों को मारा। सीता जी अपने प्राण त्यागने के लिए अशोक के पेड़ से आग माँग रही थीं; तब आपने प्रभु श्री राम की अँगूठी देकर उनका दुख दूर किया। संसार में कौन नहीं जानता कि आप संकटमोचन हैं?

बान लग्यो उर लछिमन के तब, प्रान तजे सुत रावन मारो।
लै गृह बैद्य सुषेन समेत, तबै गिरि द्रोन सु बीर उपारो।
आनि सजीवन हाथ दई तब, लछिमन के तुम प्रान उबारो।
को नहिं जानत है जग में कपि, संकटमोचन नाम तिहारो॥

Baan lagyo ur Lachhiman ke tab, pran taje sut Ravan maro,
Lai grih baidya Sushen samet, tabai giri Dron su beer uparo,
Aani sajeevan haath dai tab, Lachhiman ke tum pran ubaro,
Ko nahin janat hai jag mein kapi, Sankatmochan naam tiharo.

When the arrow shot by Ravana’s son struck Lakshmana in the chest and his life was slipping away, you, brave one, brought the healer Sushena with his whole house, and then tore up Mount Drona. You put the life-giving sanjivani herb into the healer’s hand and saved Lakshmana’s life. Who in the world does not know you as Sankat Mochan?

जब रावण के पुत्र का चलाया बाण लक्ष्मण जी की छाती में लगा और उनके प्राण निकलने लगे, तब हे वीर, आप वैद्य सुषेण को उनके घर समेत ले आए, और फिर द्रोण पर्वत को उखाड़ लाए। आपने संजीवनी बूटी लाकर वैद्य के हाथ में दी और लक्ष्मण जी के प्राण बचाए। संसार में कौन नहीं जानता कि आप संकटमोचन हैं?

रावन जुद्ध अजान कियो तब, नाग कि फाँस सबै सिर डारो।
श्रीरघुनाथ समेत सबै दल, मोह भयो यह संकट भारो।
आनि खगेस तबै हनुमान जु, बंधन काटि सुत्रास निवारो।
को नहिं जानत है जग में कपि, संकटमोचन नाम तिहारो॥

Ravan juddh ajaan kiyo tab, naag ki phans sabai sir daro,
Shri Raghunath samet sabai dal, moh bhayo yah sankat bharo,
Aani Khages tabai Hanuman ju, bandhan kaati sutraas nivaro,
Ko nahin janat hai jag mein kapi, Sankatmochan naam tiharo.

In the battle Ravana, in his folly, threw the noose of serpents over everyone. Shri Rama and the whole army fell senseless; it was a heavy trouble. Then you, Hanuman, brought Garuda, king of the birds, who cut through the bonds, and you took away their great fear. Who in the world does not know you as Sankat Mochan?

युद्ध में रावण ने नासमझी में सब पर नागपाश, यानी साँपों का फंदा, डाल दिया। श्री राम समेत पूरी सेना मूर्छित हो गई; यह बहुत भारी संकट था। तब हे हनुमान, आप पक्षियों के राजा गरुड़ को ले आए, जिन्होंने सारे बंधन काट दिए, और आपने सबका बड़ा भय दूर किया। संसार में कौन नहीं जानता कि आप संकटमोचन हैं?

बंधु समेत जबै अहिरावन, लै रघुनाथ पताल सिधारो।
देबिहिं पूजि भली बिधि सों बलि, देउ सबै मिलि मंत्र विचारो।
जाय सहाय भयो तब ही, अहिरावन सैन्य समेत संहारो।
को नहिं जानत है जग में कपि, संकटमोचन नाम तिहारो॥

Bandhu samet jabai Ahiravan, lai Raghunath patal sidharo,
Debihin pooji bhali bidhi son bali, deu sabai mili mantra vicharo,
Jaay sahaay bhayo tab hi, Ahiravan sainya samet sanharo,
Ko nahin janat hai jag mein kapi, Sankatmochan naam tiharo.

When Ahiravana carried Rama off to Patala, the underworld, with his brother Lakshmana, the demons worshipped their goddess with every rite and plotted together to offer the two brothers to her as a sacrifice. Then you went down and came to their help, and destroyed Ahiravana with his whole army. Who in the world does not know you as Sankat Mochan?

जब अहिरावण श्री राम को उनके भाई लक्ष्मण समेत पाताल लोक ले गया, और राक्षसों ने अपनी देवी की विधि-पूर्वक पूजा करके मिलकर सलाह की कि दोनों भाइयों की बलि दे दें, तब आप वहाँ जाकर उनकी सहायता को पहुँचे और अहिरावण को उसकी सेना समेत मार डाला। संसार में कौन नहीं जानता कि आप संकटमोचन हैं?

काज किये बड़ देवन के तुम, बीर महाप्रभु देखि बिचारो।
कौन सो संकट मोर गरीब को, जो तुमसों नहिं जात है टारो।
बेगि हरो हनुमान महाप्रभु, जो कछु संकट होय हमारो।
को नहिं जानत है जग में कपि, संकटमोचन नाम तिहारो॥

Kaaj kiye bad devan ke tum, beer mahaprabhu dekhi bicharo,
Kaun so sankat mor gareeb ko, jo tumson nahin jaat hai taro,
Begi haro Hanuman mahaprabhu, jo kachhu sankat hoy hamaro,
Ko nahin janat hai jag mein kapi, Sankatmochan naam tiharo.

You have done great deeds for the gods, brave and mighty lord; look at me and think: what trouble can a poor one like me have that you cannot remove? Great Hanuman, quickly take away whatever trouble we have. Who in the world does not know you as Sankat Mochan?

हे वीर महाप्रभु, आपने देवताओं के बड़े-बड़े काम किए हैं; अब मेरी ओर देखिए और सोचिए, मुझ गरीब का ऐसा कौन सा संकट है जो आपसे टल न सके? हे महाप्रभु हनुमान, हमारा जो भी संकट हो, उसे जल्दी दूर कीजिए। संसार में कौन नहीं जानता कि आप संकटमोचन हैं?
