Shri Krishna Chalisa
Chaupais in praise of Lord Krishna by the poet Sundardas: his flute and peacock crown, the butter, Govardhan held up on a fingernail, the raas with the gopis, Vidura’s greens and Mira’s cup of poison. In English letters, with the meaning of every verse.
Recite it on Krishna Janmashtami, on Ekadashi and on Wednesdays. For now it gives only the verses that two independent families of sources agree on, letter for letter; the rest are held back until their reading is settled. Reciting from memory? Hide the meaning.
